Well, day 4 already, leaving us just 3 days left to prepare for our Thanksgiving guests. Its Monday, so I’ll go easy on you today. Plus, you put in a lot of work over the weekend, so you deserve to give yourself a little break.
Besides, you’re if working all day or taking care of your family, the focus on the day to day is important to maintain. Everything you need to do here on out can be done after work or your kids’ bedtime hours, so leave the stresses of getting it all done behind you.
Here’s the skinny on Day 4:
- Reassess your prep situation. Did you manage to get it done yesterday? If you still have a few things to chop, take some time tonight to wrap it up. While your dinner is cooking, chop up a few extra veggies or do a quick prep before you start dinner. However you’d like to manage it, make sure any prep you need to do is wrapped up today.
- Did you forget something at the store? It happens to all of us, no matter how much planning you do. Make that last trip to the store to get items you missed today.
- Clean along the way. Hopefully you hired a crew to come in and clean today. If you didn’t do what you can to tidy up for guests. Getting the house in order is a constant process, so do what you can to clean along the way over the next few days. If you need to, ask a friend or family member for help!
- Schedule some you time. This is the best day for you to get in a special treat for you. Whether its scheduling a pedicure or a massage, quit feeling guilty and get in their schedule today. If you need to make any self care appointments or really want to get time in at the gym, do it! With all of this planning ahead, there’s no reason why you can’t have an hour or so to yourself over the next couple of days. This step is key to the party planner’s calm. Remember, you’re a human not a robot.
As I said, today is what some might call the calm before the storm. While there is a lot to do over the next few days, there is much less on your plate than you think. Over the next 2 and a half days, you’ll be making dishes ahead, continuing to clean as you go, and leaving only a handful of last minute details to do the day of.
If for any reason, you still feel overwhelmed, send me your to do list and we can figure this one out together. Stress less and enjoy this super fun holiday 🙂
A votre santé!
